Good article brother. I aporeciate your ongoing inquiries. So much better fodder for this brain than social media.
I suppose those are the three main camps for a theory of mind. But I'd submit that a fourth, the non-dual, is more accurate. I'm surprised your professor did not include it. Perhaps because its not all that flattering to a mind that thinks it is the active agent accruing all that fabulous information for itself. Here's where I let the machine sum things up for me....
In nondual teachings, “mind” usually refers to the stream of changing thoughts, images, feelings, and perceptions, while what you truly are is the aware, nondual presence in which that entire stream appears. Put simply, the mind is seen as a functional process within awareness, not as a separate self or ultimate reality.
Good to hear from you, Trip. I think behaviorism and functionalism are non-dual responses to dualism. Where would I learn more about the nondual philosophy you refer to?
Hi Jonathan. My life has been transformed by non dual being which is experienced as relief from the fiction that I, Trip Overholt, so called person, am the doer of things. For example, yesterday at a party for friends, I challenged the form of spirituality often practiced here whereby an indigious person guides white liberals in indiginous ceremonies. It caused some friction with the hosts of said cerenony. But I knew it got said " through me" as opposed to "by me" and suffered less from the friction tgat was caused by "my words" than I would have were I not grounded in non dual being. Here are some great sources of wisdom...

I AM THAT by sri nissargadatta is a must.
The book on the taboo against knowing who you are by Alan Watts.
Also, if you prefer to listen than read....
Among widely recommended options, the best single Alan Watts “non‑duality” talk to start with is usually considered to be the lecture often released under the title “The Coincidence of Opposites” (sometimes edited on YouTube as talks about duality or “It’s Already Happening”).
So, so good.
